Root binary is inbuilt in LineageOS 14.1, so you don’t need a separate SuperSu package to install to gain ROOT access. Here is How to Enable ROOT on LineageOS 14.1
If there is no in-built ROOT or it does not work for some reason then you can try flashing SuperSU zip using recovery to gain ROOT access.

HOW TO INSTALL/DOWNLOAD/FLASH/UPDATE LineageOS 14.1 FOR K3 NOTE NOUGAT CUSTOM ROM:

1. Follow this if you are flashing LineageOS 14.1 for K3 NOTE (aio_otfp) for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

   Points to NOTE:
   – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
   – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
   – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

   • Download and Copy the GApps and K3 NOTE LineageOS 14.1 ROM ZIP to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery. Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery. If not then follow the Custom Recovery Installation Guide for K3 NOTE (aio_otfp) (it’s a generic guide which will work for TWRP as well as CWM recovery or any other recovery)
   • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.
     – Here is a guide explaining how to wipe data using TWRP recovery.

     This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM
     – How to backup all data on your Android Device
     – how to take NANDROID backup using TWRP recovery

   • First flash the K3 NOTE LineageOS 14.1 ROM ZIP from device. Then flash the GApps zip from your device memory.
     – Here is a post explaining how to install LineageOS
   • Then reboot into recovery (don’t skip this) and flash the LineageOS 14.1 Nougat GApps package.
     – Here is a post explaining how to flash GApps using TWRP recovery.
   • Reboot and Enjoy the Nougat 7.1 LineageOS 14.1 ROM for K3 NOTE (aio_otfp).

2. Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS 14.1 for K3 NOTE (aio_otfp):

   • Copy the latest K3 NOTE LineageOS 14.1 ROM ZIP file to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery.
   • Flash the latest CM ROM ZIP from your phone.

Hi

I flashed the daniel_hk Lineage 14.1 rom and I have found that after installing and enabling a substratum there will be different issues that prevent the phone from working correctly.

After enabling one theme the phone will reboot whenever root access is used and with another the System UI stops responding.

I tried re flashing but this had no effect.

Hi Shibaa,

I changed the assert condition in updater script and allowed installation on K50. After that it got installed on my K3 Note (device name K50). Thank you for all your support so far. :)

I’ve also installed supersu zip as specified on this link: https://cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/root-android-using-twrp-recovery-install-supersu/

The only issue I’m seeing is that in Developer options when I try to enable root, I only get 2 options: Disabled / ADB only. I don’t get any option to enable root for apps. What could be the reason?

I was trying to install ‘lineage-14.1-20170312-UNOFFICIAL-aio_otfp.zip’ from Daniel_hk and it gave an error ‘E3004: This package is for device: K50-t5,aoi_otfp, aoi_otfp_m,K3Note; this device is K50’. What should I do? Which ROM should I use for ‘K50’?
Note: under ‘Settings > About Phone > Device Information’ it says ‘Model number’ is K50a40.
